This quick side dish pairs charred baby bok choy with a savory-spicy miso glaze and caramelized garlic and ginger.

Ingredients

  • 2 baby bok choy, halved
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½-inch piece fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp miso paste
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil

Preparation

Step 1


Heat the sesame oil in a medium skillet. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for at least 3 minutes, until fragrant.


Step 2


Add the miso paste, soy sauce, and sriracha. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly, adding more soy sauce if needed.


Step 3


Brush the bok choy with the sauce and place cut-side down in the skillet. Cover and cook over medium-high heat for at least 5 minutes, or until beginning to char.


Step 4


Transfer to a plate and spoon the remaining sauce and caramelized garlic and ginger over the top. Serve alone or with rice.
