About the Recipe

These fluffy homemade garlic knots are brushed twice with garlicky herb butter and finished with vegan parmesan and fresh parsley.

Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package active yeast or 2¼ tsp
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ cups unsweetened plant-based milk, such as soy
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or agave
  • Garlic Butter
  • ¾ cup vegan butter, melted
  • 8 garlic cloves, minced
  • ⅓ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Vegan parmesan

Preparation

Step 1


Whisk together the flour, yeast, and salt in a stand mixer or large bowl. Add the plant-based milk and maple syrup.


Step 2


Mix until a dough forms. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1½ hours.


Step 3


Mix all garlic butter ingredients and set aside.


Step 4


Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Cut into strips, then into 15–20 pieces.


Step 5


Roll each piece into a rope about 7 inches long and tie into a knot. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking tray.


Step 6


Brush with garlic butter, reserving some for finishing. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden.


Step 7


Brush the warm knots with the remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with vegan parmesan and parsley.
